About Me

Working as a creative executive in a number of positions and with a wide variety of clients has taught me a great deal about the power and benefits of good design. Design encompasses every aspect of a company’s communication with the public and with its clients. It creates a bond between a brand and a consumer that is both rational and emotional. Having overseen the implementation of many design approaches in many situations has also given me confidence that the principles of good design apply, no matter the industry, the technology or the medium. The key is finding what is unique about a product or service, and communicating that in a way that is emotionally and intellectually compelling.

One advantage of working at a start-up is the opportunity to wear many hats.

Some of my roles have included:

Branding Consultant - Some of my most significant contributions have been in cases where I have been involved in creating new brands.  Particularly in the case of my current start-up, Relocity, I have been part of creating the very concept of the business, crafting its public image, and consulting on operations and marketing strategies. I have then been responsible for the creation of design collateral to fulfill the identity and marketing plan. (The first several projects shown in this portfolio illustrate my contributions to other such new ventures.)

Copywriter & Communications Specialist - Any written material from Relocity or Schoos Design that needed a creative touch came from me.  This included website copy, sales decks, presentations to clients, award applications, proposals, cover letters, etc. Everywhere I have worked, leadership has discovered at some point that I am an exceptional writer, leading me to take on the additional “hat” of copy editor or content creator of all types of written material. It is a role I enjoy.

Marketing Director - As a marketing director, I have overseen social media, written articles, directed both internal and external campaigns, created pitch decks and other presentations, and directed PR, resulting in a surge of publicity for Schoos Design and other clients.

Art Director - Created and/or directed all graphic production, including logos, websites, apps, business collateral and artistic renderings, as well as environmental graphics that are part of the interior design of a project, such as signage, wall art, rugs, tiles and murals.

In-House Photographer - During my years at Schoos Design, most interior design projects were photographed by me for use on the Schoos.com website, for award applications and for use in publications like magazines and online blogs. Please see the Photography section for some examples.

It is this broad knowledge, skill and insight that I feel informs my approach to branding and marketing, and that makes my work unique.
