Packaging and Branded Goods

Cafe Bravo

Typically, packaging and branded items I have designed while at Schoos Design have been in connection with a restaurant or hotel for which we had created the branding itself. In the case of Cafe Bravo, I was given a logo and charged with creating a package design scheme that fits the cubist look of the logo. The packaging concept we created was therefore modular or cubist too.

The concept is based upon the idea of an apothecary shop, where goods are kept in small drawers that can stack together to form a bookcase. The large gift boxes seen above are sturdy enough to entice buyers to keep the boxes as countertop storage, where the branding becomes continuous advertising. The single-bag boxes have lids that are held on by magnets. Coffee bags can fit into either the single boxes or in the bottom portions of the gift boxes. Smaller bags can fit into the cube boxes, which fit into the top portions of the gift boxes. Bags and boxes have different graphic designs to help identify the various blends of coffee.

The gallery below shows the renderings I did to explain the concept and present it to the client.

I then produced detailed schematics for each item, such as the one seen below.

The following prototypes were then produced by our manufacturer in China.

Morimoto Restaurants

The following gallery shows some of the items created for Morimoto restaurants, including sushi to-go boxes, shopping bags, match boxes, and more. Note the use of the gradient backgrounds and the variable uses of the logo with the elongated “M”. The gallery also includes preliminary composites that I created for the client presentation, and a presentation folder I created for the restaurant's sales team to assist in group sales, event sales and so forth.

Beach Nation Packaging and Branded Items

Since Beach Nation is a new brand created by Schoos Design, we designed all the branded items for the restaurant including items to be used in the stores (tableware, serving vessels, etc.), packaging, retail items and uniforms.

Ludwig Branding and Packaging

These are some of the concepts for the Bavarian themed restaurant that was designed for The Original Farmer’s Market at The Grove in Los Angeles.
